Cohort Specific
In addition to Rockland’s traditional 3-week residencies, there are Cohort Specific residencies. Cohort-specific programs require additional support beyond Rockland’s Sustainable Business Model and are funded in part by grants and donors. They run at varied lengths (some 10-12 days) and maintain Rockland’s Mission to provide the base of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs pyramid through artist-to-artist sharing. These artistic communities with a collective experience that we host at Rockland Woods express a deep need to come together in support of their creative process.
PrideFest Art Retreat
In collaboration with PrideFest, Rockland’s residency structure and venue supports artists from the LGBTQ+ community to focus on their creative practice and enjoy the woods together! Funded by Glamazon and PrideFest. Runs in May 2023 and 2024.
Black Cohort
For February 2025, Rockland teams up with the Black Artists community to staff and run a Black Cohort, requested by the Black community, for the Black community. Funded by the TEW Foundation, Rockland and private donors.
Artists with Children
(no longer offered)
Hosted in July 2019, Rockland supported Artists with Children with childcare, chef, studios and 3 weeks of time at Rockland Woods to focus on making. Funded in part by Sustainable Arts Foundation.
